Context of John 10:29
27The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me. 28And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30I and the Father are One [in essence and nature].” 31Again the Jews picked up stones to stone Him.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 29My Father - is greater than all - More powerful than all the united energies of men and demons. He who loves God must be happy; and he who fears him need fear nothing on this side eternity.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 29Which gave them me - See John 6:37. Is greater - Is more powerful. Than all - Than all others - men, angels, devils. The word includes everything - everything that could attempt to pluck them away from God; in other words, it means that God is supreme. It implies, further, that God will keep them, and will so control all other beings and things that they shall be safe. None is able - None has power to do it. In these two verses we are taught the following…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-30Verses 22-30 All who have any thing to say to Christ, may find him in the temple. Christ would make us to believe; we make ourselves doubt. The Jews understood his meaning, but could not form his words into a full charge against him. He described the gracious disposition and happy state of his sheep; they heard and believed his word, followed him as his faithful disciples, and none of them should perish; for the Son and the Father were one. Thus he was…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 27-29As the good shepherd, Jesus would die for his sheep and protect them from all predators and thieves (10:1, 8, 11; see Ezekiel 34:22–23). The Father's power, shown through Jesus, keeps his sheep safe. No one can steal from Jesus those who trust in him. This is because no one is stronger than Jesus. Their security depends on Christ, not their own efforts. The word translated as snatch suggests violence (as in John 6:15).Read the comment
