Context of Luke 6:8
6On a different Shabbat, Yeshua entered the synagogue and was teaching. A man was there, whose right hand was paralyzed. 7But closely watching Him were the Torah scholars and Pharisees, to see if He heals on Shabbat, so that they might find grounds to accuse Him. But He knew their opinions and said to the man with the paralyzed hand, “Get up and stand in our midst.” And getting up, the man stood. 9Yeshua said to them, “I ask you, is it permitted on Shabbat to do good or to do evil, to save or to destroy a life?” 10Then looking around at everyone, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” The man did, and his hand was restored.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 8But he knew there thoughts - He knew their thoughts - their dark, malicious designs - by the question, which they proposed to him, whether it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath-days (Matthew). In “reply” to their question, Jesus asked them whether they would not release a “sheep” on the Sabbath-day if it was fallen into a pit, and also asked “them” whether it was better to do good than to do evil on that day, implying that to “omit” to do “good” was, in…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-11Verses 6-11 Christ was neither ashamed nor afraid to own the purposes of his grace. We may well be amazed, that the sons of men should be so wicked.Read the comment
