Context of Ezekiel 35:3
1The word of Adonai came to me saying: 2“Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it. Say to it, thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-15This message of judgment is directed to Edom, Israel’s neighbor to the southeast. It is also called Mount Seir, the main mountain region of Edom. Edom stands as a symbol of all Israel’s enemies. For example, Edom rejoiced when Israel fell (Ezekiel 36:2; see also 25:12–14). When Babylon destroyed Judah, Edom may have thought it had a chance to grow stronger. However, the Lord said that its success would not last long.Read the comment

It is only in their national character of foes to God's people, that the Edomites are to be utterly destroyed. A remnant of Edom, as of the other heathen, is to be "called by the name of God" (Am 9:12).Read the comment
