Context of Ezekiel 35:5
3Say to it, thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir. I will stretch out My hand over you and make you utterly desolate. 4I will lay your cities waste. You will be devastated. So you will know that I am Adonai. “Because you have a long-standing hatred and have delivered Bnei-Yisrael to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of their final punishment, 6therefore, as I live’—it is a declaration of Adonai—‘I will destine you for blood, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you. 7I will make Mount Seir an utter desolation. I will cut off from it all who come and go.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 5A perpetual hatred - The Edomites were the descendants of Esau; the Israelites, the descendants of Jacob. Both these were brothers; and between them there was contention even in the womb, and they lived generally in a state of enmity. Their descendants kept up the ancient feud: but the Edomites were implacable; they had not only a rooted but perpetual enmity to the Israelites, harassing and distressing them by all possible means; and they seized the…Read the comment
