Context of Acts 1:4
2up to the day He was taken up, after He had given orders by the Ruach ha-Kodesh to the emissaries He had chosen. 3To them He showed Himself to be alive after His suffering through many convincing proofs, appearing to them for forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. Now while staying with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father promised—which, He said, “you heard from Me. 5For John immersed with water, but you will be immersed in the Ruach ha-Kodesh not many days from now.” 6So when they gathered together, they asked Him, “Lord, are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”

Commentaries on Acts 1:4
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 4And, being assembled together - Instead of , being assembled together, several good MSS. and versions read , living or eating together, which refers the conversation reported here to some particular time, when he sat at meat, with his disciples. See Mark 16:14; : Luke 24:41-44. But probably the common reading is to be preferred; and the meeting on a mountain of Galilee is what is here meant.
