Joshua 7:1-17

1But the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 committedH4603 a trespassH4604 in the devotedH2764 thing: for AchanH5912, the sonH1121 of CarmiH3756, the sonH1121 of ZabdiH2067, the sonH1121 of ZerahH2226, of the tribeH4294 of JudahH3063, tookH3947 of the devotedH2764 thing: and the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 was kindledH2734 againstH2734 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.

2And JoshuaH3091 sentH7971 menH376 from JerichoH3405 to AiH5857, whichH834 is besideH413 Beth-aven, on the eastH6924 sideH5973 of Beth-el, and spake unto them, sayingH559, GoH5927 upH5927 and spyH7270 outH7971 the landH776. And the menH376 wentH5927 upH5927 and spiedH7270 outH7971 AiH5857.

4SoH4480 there wentH5927 upH5927 thither of the peopleH5971 aboutH4480 threeH7969 thousandH505 menH376: and they fledH5127 beforeH6440 the menH376 of AiH5857.

5And the menH376 of AiH5857 smoteH5221 of them aboutH1961 thirtyH7970 and sixH8337 menH376: and they chasedH7291 them from beforeH6440 the gateH8179 evenH5704 unto ShebarimH7671, and smoteH5221 them at the going downH5221: and the heartsH3824 of the peopleH5971 meltedH4549, and becameH1961 as waterH4325.

6And JoshuaH3091 rent his clothesH8071, and fellH5307 to the earthH776 uponH5921 his faceH6440 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 untilH5704 the eveningH6153, he and the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478; and they putH5927 dustH6083 uponH5921 their headsH7218.

7And JoshuaH3091 saidH559, AlasH162, O LordH136 GODH136, wherefore hast thou at all broughtH5414 this peopleH5971 over JordanH3383, to deliverH5414 usH5414 intoH3027 the handH3027 of the AmoritesH567, to causeH5414 usH5414 to perishH6? would that we had been content and dweltH3427 beyondH5676 JordanH3383!

8Oh LordH136, whatH4100 shall I sayH559, afterH310 that IsraelH3478 hath turnedH2015 their backsH6203 beforeH6440 their enemiesH341!

9For the CanaanitesH3669 and allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 shall hearH8085 of it, and shall compass usH5921 roundH5437, and cutH3772 offH3772 our nameH8034 from the earthH776: and whatH4100 wilt thou doH6213 for thy greatH1419 nameH8034?

10And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto JoshuaH3091, GetH6965 thee upH6965; wherefore art thou thusH2088 fallenH5307 uponH5921 thy faceH6440?

11IsraelH3478 hath sinnedH2398; yea, they have evenH1571 transgressed my covenantH1285 whichH834 I commandedH6680 them: yea, they have evenH1571 takenH3947 of the devotedH2764 thingH3627; and have also stolenH1589, and dissembled also, and they have evenH1571 putH7760 it among their own stuff.

12Therefore the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 cannotH3808 standH6965 beforeH6440 their enemiesH341, they turnH6437 their backsH6203 beforeH6440 their enemiesH341, becauseH3588 they are becomeH1961 accursed: I will notH3808 be with youH3588 anyH1961 moreH3254, exceptH518 ye destroyH8045 the devotedH2764 thingH3588 from among youH3588.

13UpH6965, sanctifyH6942 the peopleH5971, and sayH559, SanctifyH6942 yourselves againstH6440 tomorrowH4279: for thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, There is a devotedH2764 thingH3588 in the midstH7130 of thee, O IsraelH3478: thou canst notH3808 standH6965 beforeH6440 thine enemiesH341, untilH5704 ye takeH5493 awayH5493 the devotedH2764 thingH3588 from among youH3588.

14In the morningH1242 therefore ye shall be broughtH7126 nearH7126 by your tribesH7626: and it shall be, that the tribeH7626 whichH834 the LORDH3068 taketh shall comeH1961 nearH7126 by familiesH4940; and the familyH4940 whichH834 the LORDH3068 shall takeH3920 shall comeH1961 nearH7126 by householdsH1004; and the householdH1004 whichH834 the LORDH3068 shall takeH3920 shall comeH1961 nearH7126 manH1397 by manH1397.

15And it shall be, that he that is takenH3920 with the devotedH2764 thingH5039 shall be burntH8313 with fireH784, he and allH3605 that he hath: becauseH3588 he hath transgressed the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068, and becauseH3588 he hath wrought follyH5039 in IsraelH3478.

16SoH7126 JoshuaH3091 roseH7925 upH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and broughtH7126 IsraelH3478 nearH7126 by their tribesH7626; and the tribeH7626 of JudahH3063 was takenH3920:

17and he broughtH7126 nearH7126 the familyH4940 of JudahH3063; and he tookH3920 the familyH4940 of the ZerahitesH2227: and he broughtH7126 nearH7126 the familyH4940 of the ZerahitesH2227 manH1397 by manH1397; and ZabdiH2067 was takenH3920:
