Revised Version 1895
Hosea 4:1-9
HearH8085 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, ye childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478: for the LORDH3068 hath a controversyH7379 with the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, becauseH3588 there is noH369 truthH571, norH369 mercyH3068, norH369 knowledgeH1847 of GodH430 in the landH776.
There is nought but swearingH422 and breakingH6555 faith, and killingH1818, and stealingH1589, and committingH5003 adulteryH5003; they breakH6555 outH6555, and bloodH1818 toucheth bloodH1818.
Therefore shall the landH776 mournH56, and everyH3605 one that dwelleth therein shall languishH535, with the beastsH2416 of the fieldH7704 and the fowls of heavenH8064; yea, the fishes of the seaH3220 also shall be takenH622 awayH622.
Yet letH408 noH408 manH376 striveH7378, neitherH408 letH408 anyH376 manH376 reproveH3198; for thy peopleH5971 are as they that striveH7378 with the priestH3548.
And thou shalt stumbleH3782 in the dayH3117, and the prophetH5030 also shall stumbleH3782 with thee in the nightH3915; and I will destroyH1820 thy motherH517.
My peopleH5971 are destroyedH1820 for lackH1097 of knowledgeH1847: becauseH3588 thou hast rejectedH3988 knowledgeH1847, I will also rejectH3988 thee, that thou shalt be noH1097 priestH3547 to meH589: seeingH3588 thou hast forgottenH7911 the lawH8451 of thy GodH430, I also will forgetH7911 thy childrenH1121.
As they were multipliedH7235, soH3651 they sinnedH2398 againstH2398 meH2398: I will changeH4171 their gloryH3519 intoH4171 shameH7036.
They feedH398 on the sinH2403 of my peopleH5971, and setH5375 their heartH5315 on their iniquityH5771.
And it shall be, like peopleH5971, like priestH3548: and I will punishH6485 them for their waysH1870, and will reward them their doingsH4611.
