Context of Matthew 26:18
16Judas then waited for the right moment to help them to take hold of Jesus. 17The first day of the festival when the Jews eat flat bread arrived. Jesus' disciples came to him and they asked him, ‘Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you to eat?’ Jesus replied, ‘Go to a certain man in the city and say to him, “The teacher says: This is the moment that God has prepared for me. I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples in your house.” ’ 19So Jesus' disciples did what he had told them to do. They went and they prepared the Passover meal. 20When it was evening, Jesus and the 12 apostles sat down to eat the Passover meal together.

Commentaries on Matthew 26:18
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 18Go - to such a man - It is probable that this means some person with whom Christ was well acquainted, and who was known to the disciples. Grotius observes that the Greeks use this form when they mean some particular person who is so well known that there is no need to specify him by name. The circumstances are more particularly marked in Luke 22:8, etc. My time is at hand - That is, the time of my crucifixion. Kypke has largely shown that is often used…Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 17-25Verses 17-25 Observe, the place for their eating the passover was pointed out by Christ to the disciples. Those who would have Christ's presence in the gospel passover, must do what he says. It well becomes the disciples of Christ always to be jealous over themselves, especially in trying times. We know…Read the comment
