Context of Matthew 26:16
14Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus' 12 apostles. He went to see the leaders of the priests 15and he asked them, ‘How much money will you give me if I help you to take hold of Jesus?’ The priests gave Judas 30 silver coins. Judas then waited for the right moment to help them to take hold of Jesus. 17The first day of the festival when the Jews eat flat bread arrived. Jesus' disciples came to him and they asked him, ‘Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you to eat?’ 18Jesus replied, ‘Go to a certain man in the city and say to him, “The teacher says: This is the moment that God has prepared for me. I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples in your house.” ’

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 14-16Verses 14-16 There were but twelve called apostles, and one of them was like a devil; surely we must never expect any society to be quite pure on this side heaven. The greater profession men make of religion, the greater opportunity they have of doing mischief, if their hearts be not right with God. Later, feeling guilty, Judas killed himself (Matthew 27:3–10; see Acts 1:15–22). Judas was known for his greed (Matthew 26:14–15; John 12:4–6; 13:29).
