Context of Mark 5:26
24So Jesus went with Jairus. A large crowd followed Jesus. The people were pushing against him. 25There was a sick woman who had lost blood for 12 years. She had paid many doctors to help her to become well. But they could not do anything. Now she had spent all her money. She had not become well. Instead, she was now worse. 27People had told her about Jesus. So she came in the crowd behind him and she touched his coat. 28She said, ‘Even if I can only touch his clothes, I will become well again.’

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 26Had suffered many things of many physicians, - and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse - No person will wonder at this account, when he considers the therapeutics of the Jewish physicians in reference to hemorrhages, especially of the kind with which this woman was afflicted. Rabbi Jochanan says: "Take of gum Alexandria, of alum, and of crocus hortensis, the weight of a zuzee each; let them be bruised together, and given in wine to the woman that…Read the comment

Mark 5:23 Lieth at the point of death - Is dying; in the last agonies. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 21-34Verses 21-34 A despised gospel will go where it will be better received. One of the rulers of a synagogue earnestly besought Christ for a little daughter, about twelve years old, who was dying. Another cure was wrought by the way. We should do good, not only when in the house, but when we walk by the way, De 6:7. It is common with people not to apply to Christ till they have tried in vain all other helpers, and find them, as certainly they will…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-34As Jesus heads to Jairus's home, followed by a large crowd, Mark introduces a woman in the crowd who suffers from constant bleeding. This condition not only harms her health but also makes her ceremonially unclean. This prevents her from participating in normal community life (see Leviticus 15:25–27). She is an example of the faith that Jairus should have.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2626. And had suffered many things of many physicians--The expression perhaps does not necessarily refer to the suffering she endured under medical treatment, but to the much varied treatment which she underwent. and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse--pitiable case, and affectingly aggravated; emblem of our natural state as fallen creatures (Eze 16:5, 6), and illustrating the worse than vanity of all human remedies…Read the comment
