Context of Mark 10:11
9God has put them together to be husband and wife. So nobody should cause them to be separate.’ 10When Jesus went into the house, the disciples asked him about these things again. So Jesus said to them, ‘A man must not send his wife away and then marry another woman. If he does that, he has not been faithful to his wife. It is the same as if he had sex with another man's wife. 12In the same way, a woman must not leave her husband and then marry another man. She also has done a wrong thing. It is the same as if she had sex with another woman's husband.’ 13People were bringing little children to Jesus. They wanted him to put his hands on each child's head. The disciples told the people that they should not do that.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1-12Verses 1-12 See this question about divorce explained in the notes at Matthew 19:1-12. Mark 10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband - It would seem, from this, that a woman, among the Jews, had the power of separating herself from her husband, yet this right is not given her by the law of Moses. There is not, however, any positive evidence that females often claimed or exercised this right. Cases had occurred, indeed, in which it had been done…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 11-12Whoever divorces … and marries another … commits adultery: The parallel in Luke 16:18 agrees with Mark and mentions no exceptions to this prohibition of divorce. But Matthew's passage allows an exception when one spouse commits adultery (Matthew 19:9; see also 5:32). The apostle Paul also allows an exception if an unbelieving spouse leaves the marriage (1 Corinthians 7:15).
