Context of Jude 1:19
17But as for you, my friends, remember the message that the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ have taught you. They spoke about what would happen in future times. 18They said to you, ‘In the last days of this world, some people will laugh at God's message. They will say that it is silly to obey God. Instead, they will do the bad things that they want to do. Those things do not please God.’ It is people like this who cause you to argue with one another, so that you belong to separate groups. Their thoughts belong to this world. They do not have God's Spirit in them. 20But you, my friends, have believed the message that comes from God himself. So you must help one another to trust God more and more. Pray to God with the help of the Holy Spirit. 21Continue to live in a way that shows God's love. As you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to come, remember that he is very kind. Because of that, you will have life with God for ever.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 19Who separate themselves - From the true Church, which they leave from an affectation of superior wisdom. Sensual - · Animal - living as brute beasts, guided simply by their own lusts and passions, their Bible being the manifold devices and covetousness of their own hearts; for they have not the Spirit - they are not spiritually minded; and have no Holy Ghost, no inspiration from God.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 17-23Verses 17-23 Sensual men separate from Christ, and his church, and join themselves to the devil, the world, and the flesh, by ungodly and sinful practices. That is infinitely worse than to separate from any branch of the visible church on account of opinions, or modes and circumstances of outward government or worship. Sensual men have not the spirit of holiness, which whoever has not, does not belong to Christ. The grace of faith is most holy, as it…Read the comment

They should support each other in their faith (1:20–21). They should help those who might be misled by the false teachers (1:22–23).Read the comment

These be they--showing that their characters are such as Peter and Paul had foretold. separate themselves--from Church communion in its vital, spiritual reality: for outwardly they took part in Church ordinances (Jude 12).
