Context of 1 Corinthians 16:15
13Watch carefully for danger. Never stop trusting God. Continue to be brave and strong. 14Whatever you do, do it with love. My Christian friends, you know about Stephanas and his family. They were the first people in Achaia to become Christians. They have worked hard as God's servants to help his people. So I say this to you. 16You must respect people like them. Do what they say. And also respect everyone who works hard to serve God together with them. 17I was very happy when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived here. You could not be here yourselves, but they have taken your place.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 15Ye know the house of Stephanas - Ye know that Stephanas and his family have addicted them to the help of the followers of Christ; they have been the chief instruments of supporting the work of God in Achaia, of which work they themselves have been the first fruits. See the note on Romans 16:5.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 15I beseech you, brethren - The construction here is somewhat involved, but the sense is plain. The words, “I beseech you,” in this verse, are evidently to be taken in connection with 1 Corinthians 16:16, “I beseech you that ye submit yourselves unto such,” etc. The design is to exhort them to pay proper deference to Stephanas, and to all who sustained the same rank and character; and the remainder of 1 Corinthians 16:15 is designed to state the reason why…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 13-18Verses 13-18 A Christian is always in danger, therefore should ever be on the watch. He should be fixed in the faith of the gospel, and never desert or give it up. By this faith alone he will be able to keep his ground in an hour of temptation. The apostle gave…Read the comment
