Context of Luke 8:43
41Just then, a man named Jairus came. He was a leader of the synagogue. He fell down at Jesus’s feet and pleaded with him to come to his house, 42because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, and she was dying. While he was going, the crowds were nearly crushing him. A woman suffering from bleeding for twelve years, who had spent all she had on doctors and yet could not be healed by any, 44approached from behind and touched the end of his robe. Instantly her bleeding stopped. 45“Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds are hemming you in and pressing against you.”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 41-56Verses 41-56 Let us not complain of a crowd, and a throng, and a hurry, as long as we are in the way of our duty, and doing good; but otherwise every wise man will keep himself out of it as much as he can. And many a poor soul is healed, and helped, and saved by Christ, that is hidden in a crowd, and nobody notices it. This woman came trembling, yet her faith saved her. There may be trembling, where yet there is saving faith. Observe Christ's comfortable…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 43bleeding: The woman might have suffered from ongoing bleeding from her monthly cycle. The suffering was both physical and spiritual. According to the law of Moses, such bleeding made the woman ceremonially unclean. This would prevent her from participating in community worship (Leviticus 15:25–30).Read the comment
