Context of 2 Corinthians 5:11
9Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him. 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your consciences. 12We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to be proud of us, so that you may have a reply for those who take pride in outward appearance rather than in the heart. 13For if we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord - This, I think, is too harsh a translation of , which should be rendered, knowing therefore the fear of the Lord; which, strange as it may at first appear, often signifies the worship of the Lord, or that religious reverence which we owe to him; Acts 9:31; Romans 3:18; Romans 13:7; 1 Peter 1:17; 1 Peter 2:18; 1 Peter 3:2.
