Context of Luke 1:32
30The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31Listen carefully: you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and eminent and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33and He will reign over the house of Jacob (Israel) forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.” 34Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin and have no intimacy with any man?”

In consequence of this, that human nature should be called in a peculiar sense the Son of the most high God; because God would produce it in her womb without the intervention of man. 3rdly. Shall be called - This is the same as to say he “shall be” the Son, etc. The Hebrews often used this form of speech. See Matthew 21:13. The Highest - God, who is infinitely exalted; called the Highest, because He is exalted over all his…Read the comment

This wondrous salutation and appearance troubled Mary. The angel then assured her that she had found favour with God, and would…Read the comment
