Context of Mark 8:9

7They also had a few small fish and, after offering a bracha for them, He commanded these to be served as well. 8They ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over—seven baskets. About four thousand were there, and Yeshua sent them away. 10Right away, He got into the boat with His disciples and went to the area of Dalmanutha. 11The Pharisees came and began to argue with Him, demanding a sign from heaven, to test Him.

• Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-10The stories about feeding the 4,000 and the 5,000 are similar. All four Gospels report the earlier feeding of the 5,000 (6:35–44; Matthew 14:13–21; Luke 9:10–17; John 6:1–15). Only Mark and Matthew also record the feeding of the 4,000 as a separate miracle (Matthew 15:32–39; Mark 8:19–21; Matthew 16:9–10). The details of the events are different.Read the comment
