Context of Romans 4:25
23But the words “his faith was regarded as the basis of his approval by God” were written not only for him 24but also for us. Our faith will be regarded as the basis of our approval by God—each of us who believe in the one who brought Jesus, our Lord, back to life. Jesus, our Lord, was handed over to death because of our failures and was brought back to life so that we could receive God’s approval.

Commentaries on Romans 4:25
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 25Who was delivered for our offenses - Who was delivered up to death as a sacrifice for our sins; for in what other way, or for what other purpose could He, who is innocence itself, be delivered for our offenses? And was raised again for our justification - He was raised that we might have the fullest assurance that the death of Christ had accomplished the end for which it took place; viz. our reconciliation to God, and giving us a title to that eternal…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 25Who was delivered - To death; compare the notes at Acts 2:23. For our offences - On account of our crimes. Christ did meritoriously work our justification and salvation by…Read the comment
