Context of Proverbs 19:11
9A lying witness will not go unpunished. One who tells lies will die. 10Luxury does not fit a fool, much less a slave ruling princes. A person with good sense is patient, and it is to his credit that he overlooks an offense. 12The rage of a king is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass. 13A foolish son ruins his father, and a quarreling woman is like constantly dripping water.

Commentaries on Proverbs 19:11
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11It is his glory to pass over a transgression - "No," says what is termed a man of honor; "he must meet me as a gentleman; I must have his blood, let God say what he will." O poor, dastardly coward! thou canst not bear the reproach of poor, flimsy, paltry fellows who ridicule thee, because thou hast refused to commit murder. Such laws should be put down by law; and the man that gives a challenge should be hanged, because he intends to commit murder.Read the comment
