Context of Proverbs 19:11
9If you tell lies in court, the judge will certainly punish you. That will be the end of you! 10Fools should not live like rich people. Even worse, slaves should never have authority over rulers. If someone is wise, he controls his anger. When anyone hurts him, he is careful to forget it. 12When the king is angry, he makes people afraid, like a lion that roars. But when he is pleased with you, that is like dew on fresh grass. 13A foolish child will destroy his father. A woman who quarrels with her husband is like rain that never stops.

Commentaries on Proverbs 19:11
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11It is his glory to pass over a transgression - "No," says what is termed a man of honor; "he must meet me as a gentleman; I must have his blood, let God say what he will." O poor, dastardly coward! thou canst not bear the reproach of poor, flimsy, paltry fellows who ridicule thee, because thou hast refused to commit murder. Such laws should be put down by law; and the man that gives a challenge should be hanged, because he intends to commit murder.Read the comment
