Context of Matthew 22:30
28Now, when the dead come back to life, whose wife will she be? All seven brothers had been married to her.” 29Jesus answered, “You’re mistaken because you don’t know the Scriptures or God’s power. When people come back to life, they don’t marry. Rather, they are like the angels in heaven. 31Haven’t you read what God told you about the dead coming back to life? He said, 32‘I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ He’s not the God of the dead but of the living.”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 23-33Verses 23-33 The doctrines of Christ displeased the infidel Sadducees, as well as the Pharisees and Herodians. He carried the great truths of the resurrection and a future state, further than they had yet been reveled. There is no arguing from the state of things in this world, as to what will take place hereafter. Let truth be set in a clear light, and it appears in full strength. Having thus silenced them, our Lord proceeded to show the truth of the…Read the comment
