Context of Acts 5:16
14More and more people became believers and they joined the group. So now many men and women believed in the Lord Jesus. 15As a result, people carried their sick friends into the streets and put them on beds and mats. They hoped that Peter would pass that way and make their sick friends well again. They just wanted Peter's shadow to touch them. Many people also came into Jerusalem from the small towns near the city. They brought their sick friends with them. Some of those sick people had bad spirits that gave them trouble. God caused all these sick people to become well again. 17People liked the apostles very much. So the most important priest and his friends who belonged to the Sadducees' group were very jealous. 18These important men took hold of the apostles and they put them in the city's prison.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 16Sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits - Here it is evident that sick people are distinguished from those who were vexed with unclean spirits; and therefore they were not one and the same thing. The same distinction is made Matthew 4:24; Matthew 10:1; Mark 1:32, Mark 1:34; Mark 16:17, Mark 16:18; and Luke 4:40, Luke 4:41; Luke 7:21.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 12-16Verses 12-16 The separation of hypocrites by distinguishing judgments, should make the sincere cleave closer to each other and to the gospel ministry. Whatever tends to the purity and reputation of the church, promotes its enlargement; but that power alone which wrought such miracles by the apostles, can rescue sinners from the power of sin and Satan, and add believers to His worshippers. Christ will work by all his faithful servants; and every one who…Read the comment
