Context of Acts 2:25
23God knew that Jesus' enemies would give him to you. God had decided that this should happen. You let people who do not obey God's Law fix him to the cross. In that way you killed him. 24But after his death, God caused him to become alive again. God saved Jesus from the power of death. It was impossible for death to keep hold of him. A long time ago, King David spoke about the Messiah in this way: “I saw the Lord near me all the time. He is next to me, on my right side, so nothing will cause me trouble. 26Because of this, I am very happy, and I will praise you, God. I am human and one day I will die, but I know that you will help me while I live. 27When I die, you will not leave me in Hades, the place for dead people. You will not let anything destroy the body of your Holy One.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 25For David speaketh concerning him - The quotation here is made from Psalm 16:8-11; (note), which contains a most remarkable prophecy concerning Christ, every word of which applies to him, and to him exclusively. See the notes there.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 25For Daniel speaketh - This doctrine that the Messiah must rise from the dead Peter proceeds to prove by a quotation from the Old Testament. This passage is taken from Psalm 16:8-11. It is made from the Greek version of the Septuagint, with only one slight and unimportant change. Nor is there any material change, as will be seen, from the Hebrew. In what sense this Psalm can be applied to Christ will be seen after we have examined the expressions which…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-36Verses 22-36 From this gift of the Holy Ghost, Peter preaches unto them Jesus: and here is the history of Christ. Here is an account of his death and sufferings, which they witnessed but a few weeks before. His death is considered as God's act; and of wonderful grace and wisdom. Thus Divine justice must be satisfied, God and man brought together again, and Christ himself glorified, according to an eternal counsel, which could not be altered. And as the…Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 22-2822-28. a man approved of God--rather, "authenticated," "proved," or "demonstrated to be from God." by miracles ... which God did by him--This is not a low view of our Lord's miracles, as has been alleged, nor inconsistent with Joh 2:11, but is in strict accordance with His progress from humiliation to glory, and with His own words in Joh 5:19. This view of Christ is here dwelt on to exhibit to the Jews the whole course of Jesus of Nazareth as the…Read the comment
