Context of Acts 15:32
30So the believers in Jerusalem sent these four men to go to Antioch. When they arrived there, they told the group of believers to meet together. When they all met, Silas and Judas gave them the letter. 31When the believers in Antioch read the letter, they were very happy. They said, ‘This message will help us very much.’ Judas and Silas were both prophets. They spoke a message from God to the believers there. They spoke for a long time to help the believers and to make them strong. 33Judas and Silas remained in Antioch for some time. Then the group of believers sent them back to Jerusalem. The believers prayed that God would help them and take care of them. 34[But Silas decided to stay there.]

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 32Judas and Silas, being prophets - That is, being teachers in the Church. This signification of the word prophet we have often already seen. See the notes on Acts 11:27; Acts 13:1. Exhorted the brethren - To abide steadily attached to God, and to each other, in peace, love, and unity. And confirmed them - In the blessed truths they had already received.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 32Being prophets - See the notes on Acts 11:27. This evidently implies that they had been preachers before they went to Antioch. What was the precise nature of the office of a prophet in the Christian church it is not easy to ascertain. Possibly it may imply that they were teachers of unusual or remark able ability. Compare the notes on Romans 12:6. Confirmed them - Strengthened them; that is, by their instructions and exhortations. See the notes on Acts…Read the comment

It was a comfort to hear that carnal ordinances were no longer imposed on them, which…Read the comment
