Context of 2 Corinthians 7:3
1So, my friends, God has promised these things to us. So we must keep ourselves clean from everything that makes our bodies or our spirits unclean. We must respect and obey God. Then we will become more and more like him. 2Be friends with us. We have done nothing wrong to any of you. We have not hurt anyone. We have not cheated anyone. I am not saying this to make you feel ashamed. As I have told you before, you are our special friends. We will continue to love you, whether we live together or we die together. 4I know you and I trust you. I am proud of you. You have helped me to be strong. So, even when we have many troubles, I am still very happy. 5When we arrived in Macedonia, our bodies did not rest at all. We had many kinds of trouble. All round us, people quarrelled with us. Inside us, we were afraid.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 3I speak not this to condemn you - I do not speak to reproach but to correct you. I wish you to open your eyes and see how you are corrupted, spoiled, and impoverished by those whom ye have incautiously preferred to the true apostles of Jesus Christ. I have said before, that ye are in our hearts - He has in effect and substance said this, 2 Corinthians 1:6-8; (note); 2 Corinthians 2:4; (note), 2 Corinthians 2:12; (note); 2 Corinthians 3:2; (note), and 2…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3I speak not this to condemn you - I do not speak this with any desire to reproach you. I do not complain of you for the purpose of condemning, or because I have a desire to find fault, though I am compelled to speak in some respect of your lack of affection and liberality toward me. It is not because I have no love for you, and wish to have occasion to use words implying complaint and condemnation. For I have said before - 2 Corinthians 7:11-12. That ye…Read the comment
