Context of Matthew 14:33
31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those in the boat worshiped him and said, “Truly you are the Son of God.” 34When they had crossed over, they came to shore at Gennesaret. 35When the men of that place recognized him, they alerted the whole vicinity and brought to him all who were sick.

Commentaries on Matthew 14:33
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 33Thou art the Son of God - It is probable that these words were spoken either by the sailors or passengers, and not by the disciples. Critics have remarked that, when this phrase is used to denominate the Messiah, both the articles are used, ̔ , and that the words without the articles mean, in the common Jewish phrase, a Divine person. It would have been a strange thing indeed, if the disciples, after all the miracles they had seen Jesus work - after their…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-33Verses 22-33 Those are not Christ's followers who cannot enjoy being alone with God and their own hearts. It is good, upon special occasions, and when we find our hearts enlarged, to continue long in secret prayer, and in pouring out our hearts before the Lord. It is no new thing for Christ's disciples to meet with storms in the way of duty, but he thereby shows himself with the more grace to them and for them. He can take what way he pleases to save his…Read the comment
