Context of Luke 8:54
52Everyone was crying and mourning for her. But he said, “Stop crying, because she is not dead but asleep.” 53They laughed at him, because they knew she was dead. So he took her by the hand and called out, “Child, get up!” 55Her spirit returned, and she got up at once. Then he gave orders that she be given something to eat. 56Her parents were astounded, but he instructed them to tell no one what had happened.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 54He put them all out - That is, the pipers and those who made a noise, weeping and lamenting. See Matthew 9:23; Mark 5:38. Pompous funeral ceremonies are ridiculous in themselves, and entirely opposed to the spirit and simplicity of the religion of Christ. Every where they meet with his disapprobation.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 41-56Verses 41-56 Let us not complain of a crowd, and a throng, and a hurry, as long as we are in the way of our duty, and doing good; but otherwise every wise man will keep himself out of it as much as he can. And many a poor soul is healed, and helped, and saved by Christ, that is hidden in a crowd, and nobody notices it. This woman came trembling, yet her faith saved her. There may be trembling, where yet there is saving faith. Observe Christ's comfortable…Read the comment
