Context of Luke 24:39
37But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a spirit. 38And He said, “Why are you troubled, and why are doubts rising in your hearts? Look at [the marks in] My hands and My feet, [and see] that it is I Myself. Touch Me and see; a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.” 40After saying this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41While they still did not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 39-43Verses 39-43 Behold my hands - Jesus proceeds to give them evidence that he was truly the same person that had been crucified. He first showed them his hands and his feet - still, pierced, and with the wounds made by the nails still open. Compare John 20:27. He told them to handle him and see him. He ate before them. All this was to satisfy them that he was not, as they supposed, a spirit. Nor could better evidence have been given. He appealed to their…Read the comment

All the troublesome thoughts which rise in our hearts at any time, are known to the Lord Jesus, and are displeasing to him. He spake with them on their unreasonable unbelief.
