Context of Luke 23:45
43Jesus said to him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” 44It was now about the sixth hour (noon), and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour (3:00 p.m.), because the sun was obscured; and the veil [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two [from top to bottom]. 46And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit!” Having said this, He breathed His last. 47Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he began praising and honoring God, saying, “Certainly this Man was innocent.”

He was willing to offer himself. Let us seek to glorify God by true repentance and conversion; by protesting against those who crucify the Saviour; by a sober, righteous, and godly life; and by employing our talents in the service of Him who died for us and rose again.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 45the veil of the temple: One curtain separated the temple courtyard from the Holy Place, and another separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. Luke does not say which was torn down the middle, but it was probably the latter. The death of Jesus put an end to the sacrificial system of the temple and opened a new and permanent way into the presence of God (see Hebrews 10:19–20).Read the comment
