Ezra 7:10-26
For EzraH5830 had setH3559 his heartH3824 to seekH1875 the lawH8451 of the LORDH3068, and to doH6213 it, and to teachH3925 in IsraelH3478 statutesH2706 and judgmentsH4941.
NowH2088 this is the copyH6572 of the letterH5406 that the kingH4428 ArtaxerxesH783 gaveH5414 unto EzraH5830 the priestH3548, the scribeH5608, evenH5921 the scribeH5608 of the wordsH1697 of the commandmentsH4687 of the LORDH3068, and of his statutesH2706 to IsraelH3478.
ArtaxerxesH783, kingH4430 of kingsH4430, unto EzraH5831 the priestH3549, the scribeH5613 of the lawH1882 of the GodH426 of heavenH8065, perfectH1585 and soH1768 forth,
I makeH7761 a decreeH2942, that allH3606 they of the peopleH5972 of IsraelH3479, and their priestsH3549 and the LevitesH3879, in my realmH4437, whichH1768 are minded of their own free will to go to JerusalemH3390, go with thee.
Forasmuch as thou art sentH7972 of the kingH4430 and his sevenH7655 counsellors, to inquireH1240 concerning JudahH3061 and JerusalemH3390, accordingH4481 to the lawH1882 of thy GodH426 whichH1768 is in thine handH3028;
and to carry the silverH3702 and goldH1722, whichH1768 the kingH4430 and his counsellors have freelyH5069 offeredH5069 unto the GodH426 of IsraelH3479, whoseH1768 habitation is in JerusalemH3390,
and allH3606 the silverH3702 and goldH1722 that thou shalt findH7912 in allH3606 the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895, with the freewillH5069 offering of the peopleH5972, and of the priestsH3549, offering willinglyH5069 for the houseH1005 of their GodH426 whichH1768 is in JerusalemH3390;
therefore thou shalt with allH3606 diligenceH629 buyH7066 with this moneyH3702 bullocks, ramsH1798, lambsH563, with their meal offeringsH5261 and their drinkH5261 offeringsH5261, and shalt offerH7127 them upon the altarH4056 of the houseH1005 of your GodH426 whichH1768 is in JerusalemH3390.
And whatsoever shall seem goodH3191 to thee and to thy brethren to doH5648 with the restH7606 of the silverH3702 and the goldH1722, that doH5648 ye afterH5921 the will of your GodH426.
And the vesselsH3984 that are givenH3052 thee for the serviceH6402 of the houseH1005 of thy GodH426, deliverH8000 thou beforeH6925 the GodH426 of JerusalemH3390.
And whatsoever moreH4481 shall be needful for the houseH1005 of thy GodH426, whichH1768 thou shalt have occasionH5308 to bestow, bestow it out of the king’sH4430 treasureH1596 houseH1005.
And I, evenH1768 I ArtaxerxesH783 the kingH4430, doH5648 makeH5648 a decreeH2942 to allH3606 the treasurersH1490 whichH1768 are beyondH5675 the riverH5103, that whatsoever EzraH5831 the priestH3549, the scribeH5613 of the lawH1882 of the GodH426 of heavenH8065, shall requireH7593 of youH1768, it be doneH5648 with allH3606 diligenceH629,
unto an hundredH3969 talentsH3604 of silverH3702, and to an hundredH3969 measures of wheat, and to an hundredH3969 bathsH1325 of wineH2562, and to an hundredH3969 bathsH1325 of oilH4887, and saltH4416 withoutH3809 prescribing how much.
Whatsoever is commanded by the GodH426 of heavenH8065, let it be doneH5648 exactly for the houseH1005 of the GodH426 of heavenH8065; for whyH4101 should there be wrathH7109 againstH5922 the realmH4437 of the kingH4430 and his sonsH1123?
Also weH1768 certify youH1768, that touching anyH3606 of the priestsH3549 and LevitesH3879, the singersH2171, porters, NethinimH5412, or servantsH6399 of this houseH1005 of GodH426, it shall notH3809 be lawful to imposeH7412 tributeH4061, customH1093, or tollH1983, upon them.
And thou, EzraH5831, after the wisdomH2452 of thy GodH426 that is in thine handH3028, appointH4483 magistratesH8200 and judgesH1782, whichH1768 may judge allH3606 the peopleH5972 that are beyondH5675 the riverH5103, allH3606 suchH1768 as knowH3046 the lawsH1882 of thy GodH426; and teachH3046 ye him that knoweth them notH3809.
And whosoever will notH3809 doH5648 the lawH1882 of thy GodH426, and the lawH1882 of the kingH4430, let judgmentH1780 be executedH5648 upon him with allH3606 diligenceH629, whetherH2006 it be unto deathH4193, or to banishmentH8332, or to confiscationH6065 of goodsH5232, or to imprisonmentH613.
