Revised Version 1895

Ezra 6:1-14

Then DariusH1868 the kingH4430 madeH1240 a decreeH2942, and searchH1240 was madeH1240 in the houseH1005 of the archivesH1596, whereH1768 the treasuresH1596 were laidH7761 up in BabylonH895.

And there was foundH7912 at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the provinceH4083 of MediaH4076, a roll, and therein was thusH3652 writtenH3790 for a record.

In the firstH2298 yearH8140 of CyrusH3567 the kingH4430, CyrusH3567 the kingH4430 madeH7761 a decreeH2942; Concerning the houseH1005 of GodH426 at JerusalemH3390, let the houseH1005 be builded, the placeH870 whereH1768 they offer sacrificesH1685, and let the foundationsH787 thereof be strongly laidH7761; the heightH7314 thereof threescore cubitsH521, and the breadth thereof threescore cubitsH521;

with threeH8532 rows of great stonesH69, and a row of new timberH636: and let the expenses be givenH3052 out of the king’sH4430 houseH1005:

And also letH638 the goldH1722 and silverH3702 vesselsH3984 of the houseH1005 of GodH426, whichH1768 NebuchadnezzarH5020 tookH5312 forthH5312 out of the templeH1005 whichH1768 is at JerusalemH3390, and broughtH2987 unto BabylonH895, be restoredH8421, and broughtH2987 again unto the templeH1005 whichH1768 is at JerusalemH3390, every one to itsH4481 placeH870, and thou shalt putH5182 them in the houseH1005 of GodH426.

NowH3705 therefore, TattenaiH8674, governorH6347 beyondH5675 the riverH5103, Shethar-bozenaiH8370, and your companions the Apharsachites, whichH1768 are beyondH5675 the riverH5103, be ye farH7352 from thence:

let the workH5673 of this houseH1005 of GodH426 aloneH7662; let the governorH6347 of the JewsH3062 and the eldersH7868 of the JewsH3062 build this houseH1005 of GodH426 in its placeH870.

Moreover I makeH5648 a decreeH2942 whatH1768 ye shall doH5648 to theseH479 eldersH7868 of the JewsH3062 for the buildingH1124 of this houseH1005 of GodH426: that of the king’sH4430 goodsH5232, evenH1768 of the tributeH4061 beyondH5675 the riverH5103, expenses be givenH3052 with allH629 diligenceH629 unto theseH479 menH1400, that they be notH3809 hindered.

And that whichH1768 they have needH2818 of, both youngH1123 bullocks, and ramsH1798, and lambsH563, for burntH5928 offerings to the GodH426 of heavenH8065, wheat, saltH4416, wineH2562, and oilH4887, according to the word of the priestsH3549 whichH1768 are at JerusalemH3390, let it be givenH3052 them dayH3118 by dayH3118 withoutH3809 failH7960:

that they may offerH7127 sacrificesH5208 of sweet savour unto the GodH426 of heavenH8065, and prayH6739 for the lifeH2417 of the kingH4430, and of his sonsH1123.

Also I have madeH5648 a decreeH2942, that whosoever shall alter this word, let a beam be pulled outH5648 from his houseH1005, and let him be lifted up and fastened thereon; and let his houseH1005 be madeH5648 a dunghill for this:

and the GodH426 that hath caused his nameH8036 to dwellH7932 there overthrowH4049 allH3606 kingsH4430 and peoplesH5972, that shall put forth their handH3028 to alter the same, to destroyH2255 this houseH1005 of GodH426 whichH1768 is at JerusalemH3390. I DariusH1868 have madeH5648 a decreeH2942; let it be doneH5648 with allH3606 diligenceH629.

Then TattenaiH8674, the governorH6347 beyondH5675 the riverH5103; Shethar-bozenaiH8370, and their companions, becauseH6903 that DariusH1868 the kingH4430 had sentH7972, did accordinglyH3660 with allH629 diligenceH629.

And the eldersH7868 of the JewsH3062 builded and prosperedH6744, through the prophesyingH5017 of HaggaiH2292 the prophetH5029 and ZechariahH2148 the sonH1247 of IddoH5714. And they builded and finishedH3635 it, accordingH4481 to the commandment of the GodH426 of IsraelH3479, and accordingH4481 to the decreeH2942 of CyrusH3567, and DariusH1868, and ArtaxerxesH783 kingH4430 of PersiaH6540.
