Revised Version 1895
Daniel 9:2-19
in the firstH259 yearH8141 of his reignH4427 I DanielH1840 understoodH995 by the booksH5612 the numberH4557 of the yearsH8141, whereof the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, for the accomplishing of the desolationsH2723 of JerusalemH3389, evenH1840 seventyH7657 yearsH8141.
And I setH5414 my faceH6440 unto the LordH136 GodH430, to seekH1245 by prayerH8605 and supplicationsH8469, with fastingH6685, and sackclothH8242, and ashesH665.
And I prayedH6419 unto the LORDH3068 my GodH430, and madeH6419 confessionH3034, and saidH559, O LordH3068, the greatH1419 and dreadful GodH430, which keepeth covenantH1285 and mercyH3068 with them that loveH157 him and keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687;
we have sinnedH2398, and have dealt perversely, and have doneH2398 wickedlyH7561, and have rebelledH4775, even turningH5493 asideH5493 from thy precepts and from thy judgmentsH4941:
neitherH3808 have weH834 hearkened unto thy servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, whichH834 spake in thy nameH8034 to our kingsH4428, our princesH8269, and our fathersH1, and to allH3605 the peopleH5971 of the landH776.
O LordH136, righteousnessH6666 belongeth unto thee, but unto usH6440 confusion of faceH6440, as at this dayH3117; to the menH376 of JudahH3063, and to the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, and unto allH3605 IsraelH3478, that are nearH7138, and that are farH7350 offH7350, throughH3605 allH3605 the countriesH776 whither thou hast drivenH5080 them, becauseH834 of their trespassH4604 that they have trespassed againstH6440 thee.
O LordH3068, to usH6440 belongeth confusion of faceH6440, to our kingsH4428, to our princesH8269, and to our fathersH1, becauseH834 weH834 have sinnedH2398 againstH6440 thee.
To the LordH136 our GodH430 belongH430 merciesH7356 and forgivenesses; for weH3588 have rebelledH4775 againstH4775 him;
neitherH3808 have weH834 obeyedH8085 the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430, to walk in his lawsH8451, whichH834 he setH5414 beforeH6440 usH5414 by his servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030.
YeaH3588, allH3605 IsraelH3478 have transgressed thy lawH8451, evenH3588 turningH5493 asideH5493, that they should notH1115 obeyH8085 thy voiceH6963: therefore hath the curseH423 been pouredH5413 outH5921 uponH5921 usH5921, and the oathH7621 that is writtenH3789 in the lawH8451 of MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of GodH430; for weH3588 have sinnedH2398 againstH5921 him.
And he hath confirmedH6965 his wordsH1697, whichH834 he spake againstH5921 usH5921, and againstH5921 our judgesH8199 that judgedH8199 usH5921, by bringingH935 uponH5921 usH5921 a greatH1419 evilH7451: for underH8478 the wholeH3605 heavenH8064 hath notH3808 been doneH6213 as hath been doneH6213 uponH5921 JerusalemH3389.
As it is writtenH3789 in the lawH8451 of MosesH4872, allH3605 this evilH7451 is comeH935 uponH5921 usH5921: yet have weH834 notH3808 entreated the favour of the LORDH3068 our GodH430, that weH834 should turnH7725 from our iniquitiesH5771, and have discernment in thy truthH571.
Therefore hath the LORDH3068 watchedH8245 over the evilH7451, and broughtH935 it uponH5921 usH5921: for the LORDH3068 our GodH430 is righteousH6662 in allH3605 his worksH4639 whichH834 he doeth, and weH3588 have notH3808 obeyedH8085 his voiceH6963.
And nowH6258, O LordH136 our GodH430, that hast broughtH3318 thy peopleH5971 forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 with a mightyH2389 handH3027, and hast gotten thee renownH8034, as at this dayH3117; weH834 have sinnedH2398, weH834 have doneH6213 wickedlyH7561.
O LordH136, according to allH3605 thy righteousnessH6666, letH4994 thine angerH639 and thy furyH2534, I prayH4994 thee, be turnedH7725 awayH7725 from thy cityH5892 JerusalemH3389, thy holyH6944 mountainH2022: becauseH3588 for our sinsH2399, and for the iniquitiesH5771 of our fathersH1, JerusalemH3389 and thy peopleH5971 are becomeH7725 a reproachH2781 to allH3605 that are roundH5439 aboutH5439 usH4994.
NowH6258 therefore, O our GodH430, hearken unto the prayerH8605 of thy servantH5650, and to his supplicationsH8469, and cause thy faceH6440 to shineH215 uponH5921 thy sanctuaryH4720 that is desolateH8076, for the Lord’sH4720 sakeH4616.
O my GodH430, inclineH5186 thine earH241, and hearH8085; openH6440 thine eyesH5869, and beholdH7200 our desolations, and the cityH5892 whichH834 is calledH7121 by thy nameH8034: for weH587 doH8085 notH3808 presentH5307 our supplicationsH8469 beforeH6440 thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy greatH7227 merciesH7356.
O LordH136, hearH8085; O LordH136, forgiveH5545; O LordH136, hearken and doH6213; defer notH408; for thine own sakeH4616, O my GodH430, becauseH3588 thy cityH5892 and thy peopleH5971 are calledH7121 by thy nameH8034.
