Context of Isaiah 10:33
31Madmenah flees, the residents of Gebim have hidden. 32This very day, standing in Nob, they shake their fist at Daughter Zion’s mountain – at the hill of Jerusalem. Look, the sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, is ready to cut off the branches with terrifying power. The tallest trees will be cut down, the loftiest ones will be brought low. 34The thickets of the forest will be chopped down with an ax, and mighty Lebanon will fall.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 33Behold, the Lord - The prophet had described, in the previous verses, the march of the Assyrians toward Jerusalem, station by station. He had accompanied him in his description until he had arrived in full sight of the city, which was the object of all his preparation. He had described the consternation which was felt at his approach in all the smaller towns. Nothing had been able to stand before him; and now, flushed with success, and confident that…Read the comment

Those only can with comfort stay upon God, who return to him in truth, not in pretence and profession only. It is against the mind and will of God, that his people, whatever happens, should give way to fear. God's anger against his people is but for a moment; and when that…Read the comment
