Context of Isaiah 10:33
31Madmenah has fled. The inhabitants of Gebim have sought refuge. 32Today the Assyrians will stand at Nob, shaking their fists at the mountain of Daughter Zion, the hill of Jerusalem. Look, the Lord God of Armies will chop off the branches with terrifying power, and the tall trees will be cut down, the high trees felled. 34He is clearing the thickets of the forest with an ax, and Lebanon with its majesty will fall.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 33Behold, the Lord - The prophet had described, in the previous verses, the march of the Assyrians toward Jerusalem, station by station. He had accompanied him in his description until he had arrived in full sight of the city, which was the object of all his preparation. He had described the consternation which was felt at his approach in all the smaller towns. Nothing had been able to stand before him; and now, flushed with success, and confident that…Read the comment

Those only can with comfort stay upon God, who return to him in truth, not in pretence and profession only. It is against the mind and will of God, that his people, whatever happens, should give way to fear. God's anger against his people is but for a moment; and when that…Read the comment
