Context of Hebrews 11:24
22By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the sons of Israel and gave instructions about his burial. 23By faith, when Moses was born, his parents hid him for three months, because they saw the child was beautiful and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith, when he grew up, Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25choosing rather to be ill-treated with the people of God than to enjoy sin’s fleeting pleasure. 26He regarded abuse suffered for Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for his eyes were fixed on the reward.

He was at that time forty years of age; see the notes on Acts 7:23. He took this step, therefore, in…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 20-31Verses 20-31 Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, concerning things to come. Things present are not the best things; no man knoweth love or hatred by having them or wanting them. Jacob lived by faith, and he died by faith, and in faith. Though the grace of faith is of use always through our whole lives, it is especially so when we come to die. Faith has a great work to do at last, to help the believer to die to the Lord, so as to honour him, by patience, hope…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-25Moses, when he was grown: He took a public stand with the people of Israel instead of being known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, who had adopted him (see Exodus 2:11–15 and Exodus 2:3–10). He chose to share in the suffering of God's people, just as the readers of this letter were encouraged to do (see Hebrews 10:32–34).Read the comment

So far from faith being opposed to Moses, he was an eminent example of it [Bengel]. refused--in believing self-denial, when he might possibly have succeeded at last to the throne of Egypt. Thermutis, Pharaoh's daughter, according to the tradition which Paul under the Spirit sanctions, adopted him, as Josephus says, with the consent of the king.
