Daniel 12:7
7Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was over the waters of the river as he raised both his right and left hands to the sky and made an oath by the one who lives forever: “It is for a time, times, and half a time. Context of Daniel 12:7
5I, Daniel, watched as two others stood there, one on each side of the river. 6One said to the man clothed in linen who was above the waters of the river, “When will the end of these wondrous events occur?” Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was over the waters of the river as he raised both his right and left hands to the sky and made an oath by the one who lives forever: “It is for a time, times, and half a time. Then, when the power of the one who shatters the holy people has been exhausted, all these things will be finished.” 8I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, “Sir, what will happen after these things?” 9He said, “Go, Daniel. For these matters are closed and sealed until the time of the end.

Commentaries on Daniel 12:7
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Which was upon the waters - By this description, he was standing on the water. This is very similar to the description of the angel, Revelation 10:5, Revelation 10:6, and in the seventh verse there seems to be a reference to this prophecy "a time, times, and a half." See the note on Daniel 7:25; (note).Read the comment

The act of swearing or taking an oath was often accompanied with the lifting up of the hand to heaven, usually the…Read the comment

It signifies 1260 prophetic days or years, beginning from the time when the power of the holy people should be scattered. The imposture of Mohammed, and the papal usurpation, began about the same time; and these were a twofold attack upon the…Read the comment
