Context of Revelation 1:2
1This is the revelation of Jesus Christ. God gave it to him to show his servants the things that must happen soon. He sent this revelation through his angel to his servant John. John testified about what he saw: God’s word and the testimony about Jesus Christ. 3Blessed is the one who reads, as well as those who hear the words of this prophecy and pay attention to what is written in it because the time is near. 4From John to the seven churches in the province of Asia. Good will and peace to you from the one who is, the one who was, and the one who is coming, from the seven spirits who are in front of his throne,

Commentaries on Revelation 1:2
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 2Who bare record of the word of God - Is there a reference here to the first chapter of John's gospel, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, etc.? Of this Word John did bear record. Or, does the writer mean the fidelity with which he noted and related the word - doctrines or prophecies, which he received at this time by revelation from God? This seems more consistent with the latter part of the verse.Read the comment
