Context of Psalms 132:16
14He said, ‘This is where I will live for ever. This is where I want my home to be. 15I will give Zion's people everything that they need. Zion's poor people will have plenty of food to eat. I will keep Zion's priests safe. The people who serve God faithfully will shout loudly, because they are so happy. 17In Zion I will give strength to King David's family. My chosen king will continue to rule well, like a light that shines brightly. 18I will cause his enemies to be ashamed. But his own kingdom will be great!’

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 16I will also clothe her priests with salvation - See the notes at Psalm 132:9, where - instead of the word which in 2 Chronicles 6:41, as here, is “salvation,” we find the word “righteousness.” The promise here corresponds to the prayer in Psalm 132:9. It is a reason why God should interpose. What they prayed for Psalm 132:9, had been expressly promised, and that promise is now urged as a plea why the prayer should be granted. And her saints shall shout…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-18Verses 11-18 The Lord never turns from us when we plead the covenant with his anointed Prophet, Priest, and King. He abode in Zion till the sins of Israel caused him to give them up to the spoilers. Forsake us not, O God, and deliver us not in like manner, sinful though we are. God's people…Read the comment
