Context of Psalms 132:16
14“This is My resting place forever” [says the Lord]; “Here will I dwell, for I have desired it. 15I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests also I will clothe with salvation, And her godly ones will shout aloud for joy. 17There I will make the horn (strength) of David grow; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed [fulfilling the promises]. 18His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon himself shall his crown shine.”

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 16I will also clothe her priests with salvation - See the notes at Psalm 132:9, where - instead of the word which in 2 Chronicles 6:41, as here, is “salvation,” we find the word “righteousness.” The promise here corresponds to the prayer in Psalm 132:9. It is a reason why God should interpose. What they prayed for Psalm 132:9, had been expressly promised, and that promise is now urged as a plea why the prayer should be granted. And her saints shall shout…Read the comment

He abode in Zion till the sins of Israel caused him to give them up to the spoilers. Forsake us not, O God, and deliver us not in like manner, sinful though we are. God's people…Read the comment
