Context of Psalms 132:16
14“This will be my resting place forever. Here I will sit enthroned because I want Zion. 15I will certainly bless all that Zion needs. I will satisfy its needy people with food. I will clothe its priests with salvation. Then its godly ones will sing joyfully. 17There I will make a horn sprout up for David. I will prepare a lamp for my anointed one. 18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on my anointed one will shine.”

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 16I will also clothe her priests with salvation - See the notes at Psalm 132:9, where - instead of the word which in 2 Chronicles 6:41, as here, is “salvation,” we find the word “righteousness.” The promise here corresponds to the prayer in Psalm 132:9. It is a reason why God should interpose. What they prayed for Psalm 132:9, had been expressly promised, and that promise is now urged as a plea why the prayer should be granted. And her saints shall shout…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-18Verses 11-18 The Lord never turns from us when we plead the covenant with his anointed Prophet, Priest, and King. How vast is the love of God to man, that he should speak thus concerning his church! It is his desire to dwell with us; yet how little do we desire to dwell with him! He abode in Zion till the sins of Israel caused him to give them up to the spoilers. Forsake us not, O God, and deliver us not in like manner, sinful though we are. God's people…Read the comment
