Context of Mark 13:26
24Then, after all these bad things have happened, the sun will become dark. The moon will not shine any more. 25Stars will fall out of the sky. And the powerful things in the sky will shake. Then people will see the Son of Man. He will come in the clouds. He will have great power and bright glory. 27Then he will send his angels. They will go in every direction, to every part of the earth and to every part of the sky. They will bring together all the people that God has chosen. 28Here is a lesson for you to learn about the fig tree. When the new branches on the tree start to grow, the leaves appear. Then you know that the summer will begin soon.

Commentaries on Mark 13:26
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 24-27Verses 24-27 The disciples had confounded the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the world. This mistake Christ set right, and showed that the day of Christ's coming, and the day of judgment, shall be after that tribulation. Here he foretells the final dissolution of the present frame and fabric of the world. Also, the visible appearance of the Lord Jesus coming in the clouds, and the gathering together of all the elect to him.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-27But in those days, after that tribulation: Many scholars think this passage uses symbolic or figurative language. They believe the signs in the sky 13:24–25), the coming of the Son of Man (13:26), and the gathering of God’s chosen people (13:27) all point to Jerusalem’s destruction in AD 70. They also believe this event showed that the Son of Man had been proved right. However, the traditional interpretation is different. It says that the earlier verses…Read the comment
