Context of Acts 10:34
32So send some men to Joppa to fetch a man who is called Simon Peter. He is staying there at the house of Simon the tanner. His house is near the sea.” 33So I sent some men immediately to bring you here. Thank you that you agreed to come. Now we are all here together, and God is with us. We are ready to listen to your message. Please tell us everything that the Lord God has told you to say.’ Then Peter said to them, ‘Now I understand that God accepts all people in the same way. God has shown me that this is true. 35God accepts all people who worship him and who do the right things. It is not important to God which nation a person belongs to. 36This is the message that God has sent to the people of Israel. He told us the good news about Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of all people. Because of Jesus, we can now come near to God again.

Commentaries on Acts 10:34
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 34God is no respecter of persons - He does God esteem a Jew, because he is a Jew; nor does he detest a Gentile because he is a Gentile. It was a long and deeply rooted opinion among the Jews, that God never would extend his favor to the Gentiles; and that the descendants of Jacob only should enjoy his peculiar favor and benediction. Of this opinion was St. Peter, previously to the heavenly vision mentioned in this chapter. He was now convinced that God was…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 34Then Peter opened his mouth - Began to speak, Matthew 5:2. Of a truth - Truly, evidently. That is, I have evidence here that God is no respecter of persons. A judge is a respecter of persons when he favors one of the parties on account of private friendship, or…Read the comment

Though these are not the cause of a man's acceptance, yet they show it; and whatever may be wanting in knowledge or faith, will…Read the comment
