Context of 2 Corinthians 6:15
13I am speaking to you as I would speak to my own children. Be fair to us! Accept us as your friends, just as we have accepted you. 14Do not become united with people who do not believe in Christ. God has made you right with himself. Right and wrong cannot work together. Light and dark cannot join together. Christ will never agree with the Devil. People who believe in Christ are completely different from people who do not believe. 16Idols do not belong in God's house. Remember that we believers are the house of the God who lives for ever. This is what God has said: ‘I will make my home with them and I will live among them. I will be their God and they will be my people.’ 17And so, the Lord says: ‘Come out from among them and be separate. Do not touch anything that is disgusting. Then I will accept you.’

Commentaries on 2 Corinthians 6:15
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 15And what concord - ( ́ sumphōnēsis). Sympathy, unison. This word refers properly to the unison or harmony produced by musical instruments, where there is a chord. What accordance, what unison is there; what strings are there which being struck will produce a chord or harmony? The idea is, then, there is as much that is discordant between Christ and Belial as there is between instruments of music that produce only discordant and jarring sounds. Hath…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-18Verses 11-18 It is wrong for believers to join with the wicked and profane. The word unbeliever applies to all destitute of true faith. True pastors will caution their beloved children in the gospel, not to be unequally yoked. The fatal effects of neglecting Scripture precepts as to marriages clearly appear. Instead of a help meet, the union brings a snare. Those whose cross it is to be unequally united, without their wilful fault, may expect consolation…Read the comment
