Context of Mark 9:10
8Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. 9As they were coming down the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They kept this word to themselves, questioning what “rising from the dead” meant. 11Then they asked him, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 12“Elijah does come first and restores all things,” he replied. “Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

Commentaries on Mark 9:10
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10And they kept that saying - This verse is wanting in two MSS. and one of the Itala. What the rising from the dead should mean - ̔ Ϛͅ, When he should arise from the dead, is the reading of D, six others, Syriac, all the Persic, Vulgate, all the Itala, and Jerome. Griesbach approves of it. There is nothing that answers to this verse either in Matthew or Luke.Read the comment
