Context of Matthew 24:37
35Heaven and earth [as now known] will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 36“But of that [exact] day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son [in His humanity], but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man (the Messiah) will be just like the days of Noah. 38For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the [very] day when Noah entered the ark, 39and they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be [unexpected judgment].

Concerning Christ's second coming, it is foretold that there shall be a great change, in order to the making all things new. Then they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds. At his first coming, he was set for a sign that should be spoken against, but at his second coming, a sign…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 37at the coming of the Son of Man: This refers to the second coming of Jesus (see Matthew 24:3; compare Luke 17:26). in the days of Noah (see Genesis 6:9–22; 2 Peter 2:5; 3:5–6): This is not comparing how serious the sins were. Instead, it shows that people did not notice what God was doing. They were too focused on everyday pleasures and celebrations (Matthew 6:19–34).Read the comment
