Context of Psalms 102:5
3Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn Your ear to me— in the day I call, answer me quickly. 4For my days vanished like smoke, and my bones were burned like coals. My heart is stricken and withered like grass, so that I even forget to eat my bread. 6Because of the sound of my groaning, my bones cling to my flesh. 7I am like a pelican of the desert, like an owl of the waste places.

Commentaries on Psalms 102:5
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 5By reason of the voice of my groaning - By suffering and trouble, so great as to produce groaning, my flesh is wasted away. My bones cleave to my skin - Margin, “flesh.” The Hebrew word means “flesh.” The effect described is that of a wasting away or an emaciation of flesh from deep distress, so that the bones became prominent, and had nothing to hide them from view; so that they seemed to adhere fast to the flesh itself.
