Context of Psalms 102:5
3For my days have vanished in smoke, And my bones have been scorched like a hearth. 4My heart has been struck like grass and withered, Indeed, [absorbed by my heartache] I forget to eat my food. Because of the sound of my groaning [in suffering and trouble] My bones cling to my flesh. 6I am like a [mournful] vulture of the wilderness; I am like a [desolate] owl of the wasteland. 7I am sleepless and lie awake [mourning], I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.

Commentaries on Psalms 102:5
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 5By reason of the voice of my groaning - By suffering and trouble, so great as to produce groaning, my flesh is wasted away. My bones cleave to my skin - Margin, “flesh.” The Hebrew word means “flesh.” The effect described is that of a wasting away or an emaciation of flesh from deep distress, so that the bones became prominent, and had nothing to hide them from view; so that they seemed to adhere fast to the flesh itself.
