Context of Hebrews 2:4
2For if the word spoken through angels proved to be firm, and every violation and disobedience received a just payback, 3how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? It was first spoken through the Lord and confirmed to us by those who heard. At the same time, God was testifying by signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Ruach ha-Kodesh, according to His will. 5For it is not to angels that God has subjected the olam ha-ba —about which we speak. 6But somewhere someone has testified, saying, “What is man, that You are mindful of him, or the son of man, that You care for him?

And all these were proved to come from himself; for no man could do those miracles at his own pleasure, but the power to work them was given according to God's own will; or rather, God himself wrought them, in order to accredit the…Read the comment

No man can work a miracle by his own power. When the dead are raised, the deaf made to hear and the blind to see by a word, it is the power of God alone that does it. He thus becomes a “witness” to the divine appointment of him by whose instrumentality the miracle is performed; or furnishes an attestation that what he says is…Read the comment
