Context of Zechariah 1:14
12Then the angel of Yhwh answered and said, O Yhwh of Armies, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years? 13And Yhwh answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words. So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith Yhwh of Armies; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. 15And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. 16Therefore thus saith Yhwh; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith Yhwh of Armies, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-17Verses 7-17 The prophet saw a dark, shady grove, hidden by hills. This represented the low, melancholy condition of the Jewish church. Though the church was in a low condition, Christ was present in the midst, ready to appear for the relief of his people. Behind him were angels ready to be employed by him, some in acts of judgment, others of mercy, others in mixed events…Read the comment

God is jealous because, as the one true and living God, he has exclusive rights to his creatures' worship (see Exodus 20:5; 34:14). Jerusalem represents the areas ruled by Judean kings, and Mount Zion was where the Lord's temple stood.Read the comment
