Context of Haggai 2:19
17I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith Yhwh. 18Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of Yhwh's temple was laid, consider it. Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you. 20And again the word of Yhwh came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying, 21Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-19Verses 10-19 Many spoiled this good work, by going about it with unholy hearts and hands, and were likely to gain no advantage by it. The sum of these two rules of the law is, that sin is more easily learned from others than holiness. The impurity of their hearts and lives shall make the work of their hands, and all their offerings, unclean before God. The case is the same with us. When employed in any good work, we should watch over ourselves, lest we…Read the comment

So also the vine…Read the comment
